I use these bus tubs (7 gallon size) on brew day and beyond for a number of purposes.

I use these to cart around gear and ingredients – saving trips back and forth.
As brew day starts, I’ll keep a dry/clean bus tub and a wet/needs to be cleaned bus tub. Having two helps me keep clean things clean. That means less unnecessary cleaning.
If I’m using my pump, I’ll keep one below that. It catches drips and also offers a place to store wet items such as stirring spoons, mash paddles, my mash stirring whisk and my equally invaluable 1 gallon pitchers.

Using a Full Size Sheet Pan to Make Bottling Easier – Catch Drips on Bottling Day

How about tray that has a 54 bottle (or so) capacity to making bottling day easier?
The pictured tray – Thunder Group ALSP1826 – is actually a full size sheet pan that’s about 18″ x 26″. As you can see it easily hold 54 bottles. Those are Anchor Steam bottles which are a little wider than standard beer bottles. You can probably get a few more long neck style bottles on a full size sheet pan. This is large enough to hold enough bottles for a full 5 gallon batch. If you leave 1/2 gallon of trub behind, you would use right around 48 (12) ounce bottles. These are estimates.
This tray catches those in-between bottle drips, helps keep your bottling area clean and generally speeds up bottling and cleanup.’
+BBQ…. When you’re done you have one tray to rinse off. This also pulls double duty for me come time to BBQ. I use this tray for preparing and transporting ribs. Note that this is actually too large to fit in my standard size oven. I like that because it means it stays out of the oven and I don’t have to worry about odds and ends getting baked on to it.

I’m fond of Brother labeling machines that have the ability to use their TZe style labeling tape. That line of tapes has an extra strength adhesive version. The extra strength adhesive versions are designed to work in harsh environments, both indoors and outdoors. I’ve found them to work well even in slightly moist places like my kegerator. I use TZe style labels for labeling storage bins, my co2 manifold, keg lines, kegs and more. Search: tze extra strength on Amazon

Lots of TZe Tape colors and styles are available. I generally use the 1/2″ Black Print on White Tape – Standard | Extra Strength.

2 Hot Surface Handlers – Yeast Starters and Brew Day

2 Pack Hot Surface Handling Gloves. Made from cotton. These are meant to withstand extreme dry heat up to 480 deg F. Fits right or left hand or both (since you get two). Meant for use in the kitchen, for BBQ-ing, changing lightbulbs and more.

I use something similar (an Ove Glove) when I’m making yeast starters in an Erlenmeyer Flask. It’s really handy (pun intended) to swirl around the flask or to quickly remove to keep the flask from boiling over. No reaching for a pot holder because I already have the Ove Glove on.

These are also handy on brew day for handling hot (but not wet) ball valves and such.

These are not waterproof. Safety Note: Always use caution when handling hot items or ingredients and always read and follow manufacturer directions.

Tip: Consider Oetiker Stepless Clamps for Kegerator Gas and Beer Lines

I use stainless steel Oetiker-style stepless clamps for most gas and beer applications. I like the fact that they are, generally… stainless steel, stepless and the fact that they stay tight and will not loosen over time.
These clamps are designed so that there are no steps (gaps) on the inside. That reduces the possibility that tubing will be torn or damaged.
These are single use clamps. The upside of that is… Oetiker-style stepless clamps will not loosen over time. When they’re tight, they’re tight. I really like that for kegerator applications because… A: I don’t like to empty CO2 tanks for no good reason and B: I don’t like standing beer in my kegerator.
A sizing note – Oetiker-style Stepless clamp sizes generally refer to the largest diameter in mm. So a size 13.3 means that the Oetiker Stepless clamp is 13.3 millimeters (about .52″) in diameter uncrimped.

These are not waterproof. Along those lines, I wouldn’t suggest that you stick your hand in hot wort with one of these on. Or, without one of these on for that matter. I guess the take away here is… don’t stick your hand in hot wort. 🙂

I use these bus tubs (7 gallon size) on brew day and beyond for a number of purposes.

I use these to cart around gear and ingredients – saving trips back and forth.
As brew day starts, I’ll keep a dry/clean bus tub and a wet/needs to be cleaned bus tub. Having two helps me keep clean things clean. That means less unnecessary cleaning.
If I’m using my pump, I’ll keep one below that. It catches drips and also offers a place to store wet items such as stirring spoons, mash paddles, my mash stirring whisk and my equally invaluable 1 gallon pitchers.
The ridges on the bottom make these a great place to drain and dry just cleaned gear.
When these are unused, they stack together to save space and offer a nice place to store brew day items.
Another potential use: ice down your favorite beverages for get-togethers.

I use a bunch of similar containers (maybe 30 or more?) for storage and organization of my brewing equipment. I’ve tried several size storage containers (and still use a few larger ones) but I’ve found these to work the best for most things (at least in my situation). I organize containers by either task (Examples: Brew Day and Yeast Starters: – Ove Glove, Foam Stoppers, Stir Bars, Yeast Nutrient, stir bar keeper magnet, StirStarter, etc) or similar items (Airlocks and stoppers). Slap a label on the front and it makes it easy to find what you’re looking for.
