Selection tips: For mini digital electronic scales, with the same accuracy, the maximum range is not the bigger the better, on the contrary, the smaller range is more accurate, for 0.01g accuracy, the maximum range of 200g is a good choice, so please according to their own needs for the maximum range and accuracy to choose.

Tare Function: Tare allows you to subtract the weight of the container you’re using to get a true weight of the contents. Add your empty container to the scale and press the tare button. This zeros out the scale. Now add the thing you’re weighing and the scale displays just the weight of the contents of your container. In my opinion the tare function is essential for any good homebrewing scale.

Given the specs of this scale, it should work for weighing hops, water salts and smaller amounts of other brewing ingredients. 100 grams is about 3.52 ounces.

With resolution down to the thousandth of a gram, this would be a candidate for use with both hops and water salts.

Typically as resolution/accuracy go up, capacity goes down. From what I generally see the 50 gram (1.76 ounces) capacity is a relatively high considering that this has milligram resolution.

Kit includes 10″ housing, one carbon block filter, garden hose attachment, barbed fittings and 6′ of 3/8″ vinyl tubing. The carbon block should be replaced after filtering approximately 800 gallons of water or after 1 year of use, whichever comes first. Filter should be disassembled and stored dry when not in use.

NOTE: This product should not be used in hot water applications. Cold water only!

What I like about this scale… I like that this has the tare function and that it has a 1/100th gram resolution. That means you should be able to use it for weighing hops, water salts, smaller amounts of specialty grains (200 grams is about 7 ounces) and other brewing ingredients.

TDS meters can are helpful for brewing if you’re using a RO filter or if you purchase RO (reverse osmosis) water for brewing. If you’re using an RO filter a TDS meter tells you how effective your filter is and can help you know if your filters need to be replaced.
