More info from Brew Hardware“These new elements are pretty slick. The traditional way to get an element into a TC port is to use an adapter such as our Hot Pod ETC which then had to be hardwired to a cord. These Ripple TC elements don’t have screw in bases but are welded right to a 1.5″ TC flange. Not only that, but the electrical connection is made by integrated NEMA L6-30P blades. You can twist an L6-30R cord end right on. This gives you the ability to disconnect at the pot rather than drag the cord around. While the L6-30P plug configuration is a standard usually used for 30 amp 240 volt, these 120 volt elements use it for manufacturing consistency. The power requirement of this element is only 120 volt and 15 amps so they can be plugged in to any 120 volt outlet in the house. You will do this by making up an adapter cable that has a regular 15 amp plug on one side and an L6-30R on the other end. You have a few options here. The L6-30R Cable we show in our accessories list has the female on it that connects to the element and then you can wire the Nema 5-15 plug onto that. The downside is that the wire is only 5 feet and it’s oversized for 15 amps. The other way to do it is to grab whatever length of 12/3 SJEOOW cable you need and wire a Nema L6-30R on the element end and one of the 5-15P plugs on the other end.
You will need a 1.5″ TC port on your kettle and we offer several different ways to get that done; weld ferrule, solder ferrule, and weldless. These are available separately. The L6 cable is also available as a separate item.
Element length is approximately 6.5″ Long to the TC flange.
Everything is 304 High polish stainless steel.
These are made in China. Warranty is 3 months from date of purchase and does NOT cover damage due to dry firing. These elements must be submerged in liquid any time power is applied.
It is extremely important that you consult with an electrical professional for advice or wiring help. Under no circumstances should these be used without proper wiring, ground fault circuit protection, over current circuit protection. We are not licensed electricians so we cannot provide wiring advice.”
