set it in the celcius mode and calibrate. it will read 0. that is the only way i could get it to work.
Mine reads .5-1F High as well.
I have this thermometer from a previos Amazon deal. Though tit was accurate out of the box from what other people have said, but when I finally tested it with ice water,found it reads high by about 3 degrees. When I tried to calibrate it, I get an error code. Not uncommon from what I have read.
CDN offered to fix/replace it, but wants me to send it to them, paying for postage etc. but the cost for that negates the benefit, so I am basically stuck with a therm that reads 3 degrees off.
As such, I would NOT recommend this unless you get it locally and can return it if it doesn’t calibrate.
