Symons Galaxy Kits at MoreBeer

From the “prices on everything continue to skyrocket” department the price on this has stayed the same since January of 2022 when we featured this as a Kit of the Week deal.

It’s a big brewing world out there, make sure you see as much of it as possible! Australian Sparkling Ale is one of those mysterious beer styles that a lot of us had never sampled (or even heard of, really). But its light, easy-drinking body paired up with delicious hop-forward flavors and aromatics make it an outstanding, sessionable brew. Pilsner dominates the malt profile with a dash of White Wheat and Carapils for body and mouthfeel, allowing the hop combination of Galaxy and Strata to really pop. Similar to how the best view of the Milky Way is on a moonless night in the Outback, these hops are on gorgeous display as post boil and dry hop additions, with very little bitterness to cloud the citrus, tropical, and cannabis character they impart.

Symons Galaxy was first brewed at Imperiale Beer Project in Brentwood, CA as part of a virtual collaboration with Australian beer historian, Peter Symons. Who better to have at your side (albeit through the computer screen) than the gentleman who literally wrote the BJCP guidelines for the style? This collaborative effort resulted in a unique, modern take on the ASA style—introducing Strata, a non-Australian hop, into the mix to complement the heavy additions of Galaxy hops. Symons Galaxy was a smash hit, and is sure to satisfy any hop head out there.

Sabro is notable for its complexity of fruity and citrus flavors. It imparts distinct tangerine, coconut, tropical fruit, and stone fruit aromas, with hints of cedar, mint, and cream. Sabro’s pedigree is the result of a unique cross pollination of a female neomexicanus hop. With a robust brewing performance, Sabro proves to be a strongly expressive hop that translates its flavor incredibly well into beer.

Vinnie of Russian River Brewing once used this hop in an experimental beer brewed for the National Homebrewers Conference, which was an absolute hit. We recently toured Russian River’s new Windsor brewery with Vinnie, and he still raves about this hop and will happily talk about the origin of the Ron Mexico alias with a Cheshire grin on his face. We think you’ll absolutely love this hop for brewing juicy, tropical pale ales and IPAs!

The Beverage Doctor will get you a very accurate reading with its 0.01 pH resolution. The calibration process couldn’t be easier to perform, just place the probe in the buffer solution closest to pH of the sample you’ll be testing and press the button! This pH meter also includes ATC (Automatic Temperature Control) so you don’t have to get your sample all the way down to room temperature before you take your reading.

The Beverage Doctor features a replaceable probe in case yours is lost or damaged. Homebrewing can be a tough environment for your pH probe so we feel you shouldn’t have to buy a whole new pH meter everytime your probe breaks. The cap that holds the probe storage solution has a very tight seal and should prevent your probe from drying out while not in use. This carboy thermowell is used in conjunction with the Digital Controller, FE601A, FE610A, or FE602, to more accurately regulate internal temperature during fermentation. It is exceptionally useful during the start of fermentation when the lag between ambient temperature in the refrigerator and actual temperature in the carboy can vary greatly. Now you can keep your beer or wine within one degree of the set point on your digital controller. Designed to fit either 3, 5 or 6 gallon PLASTIC carboys or any other similarly sized opening hole. The unit comes with a 15″ stainless steel thermowell and a #10 silicone stopper that will accommodate our sanitary filter, FIL90, as well. It can be used in any container with a stopper opening of this size where you need to accurately monitor and control liquid temperature.

Will not work with Johnson Temperature Controllers (FE600 or FE611) because the probes are too large.

 

According to answers in the Q & A section this works with Inkbird ITC-308 probes.
