Works on both ball lock and pin lock kegs: In most cases, Pin lock and ball lock cornelius style keg lids are interchangeable from a size perspective.  That means you can, generally speaking, put a pepsi/ball lock style (manual prv) lid on a coke/pin lock style (no manual prv) keg.  In my book, that’s a solid upgrade.

  • Corny Beer Keg Lid with 1.5" Tri-clamp Ferrule.
  • 1.5"TC ferrule is widely used in the homebrew products. You can find many fastic products with 1.5"TC ferrule connection.
  • Our corny beer keg lid with 1.5 inch ferrule is a great addition for the corny beer kegs.
  • More Sturdy: Made of 304 stainless steel.
  • Easy to Install & Use: Large handle makes installation easier; labor-saving design of safety relief valve, no need to keep lifting when deflated, just lift once and rotate 90° to continuously deflate.

Note from HBF: One difference between Pin Lock and Ball Lock kegs is the type of lids that come with each.  Ball Locks, generally, have a manual PRV valve, while Pin Locks do not.  Ball Lock style lids are, in my opinion, superior because the manual PRV allows you to easily vent your keg as needed.  The good news is that, for standard kegs, the lids are the same size and can be interchanged.  That means you can use a Ball Lock style lid in a Pin Lock Keg.

An ideal fix for an older keg with a leaky lid, or for any keg that needs to be pressurized before filling to achieve an airtight seal. Keg Carbonation Lid

Keg Carbonation Lid via William’s Brewing

More Info

From the product description, check product page for current description, price and availability:

he Keg Carbonation Lid features a .5 micron stainless airstone attached to the bottom of a standard oval keg lid with 22″ of tubing. A gas ball lock fitting on the lid means you can inject C02 into your kegged beer from the bottom, and have it permeate up through the beer in fine bubbles for rapid carbonation (3-6 hours if the beer is 40° F. or less and gas pressure is 20 PSI). Fits all oval lid kegs and includes a lid sealing O ring and relief valve.

To use, install on your keg of beer and chill to 40° F or less. When cold, attach your ball lock gas line to the ball lock post on the lid, and set your dispensing pressure for 25 PSI. Leave for 6 hours and then remove the gas line. Attach your gas line to the IN side of your keg, (removing it from the lid) and release the head pressure in the keg so it is around 6 to 8 PSI. Then turn on your gas to 6-8 PSI to dispense, and your beer will be carbonate

Replacement Corny Keg Lid

More Info

From the product description, check product page for current description, price and availability:

We love these keg lids as either a replacement or an upgrade to the stock lid featured on many homebrew kegs. Most homebrew kegs feature a straight, parallel bale that sits extemely close to the lid when in the closed position. So close that it can be hard to get a finger or two under the bale to open it. The arms on this lid bend outward creating a nice, easy-to-grip handle to open and close the bale.

For use with Torpedo, Cornelius, and Firestone kegs. Comes with a pull-ring pressure relief valve and o-ring. PRV rated to 85 psi.

We also have keg washing tablets and much more. Feel free to send a message if you need anything else or have any questions. Cheers!

Hands on Review: Kegland Hang Tab Keg Lids – works on ball lock & pin lock kegs

Kegland, based in Australia, produces a broad array of homebrewing gear. fermenters, electric brewing systems, loads of draft stuff (including DuoTight!) and lots more.

It’s obvious these folks are homebrewers at heart, because they’ve come up some really innovative stuff. The other thing they’ve generally done is hit really good price points. There is a balance between cost, features and quality and they seem to be hitting a lot of bullseyes.

This is a hands on look at their unique keg lid with integrated hang tag model KL02868.

Close of up of the lid. Reads… Caution Release Pressure to Remove Lid. Maximum Working Pressure 130 PSI.

Color Coded Keg Post O-Rings at William’s Brewing

  • William’s Brewing has introduced a line of color coded keg o-rings. Choose from black, red, green and blue.  These are for keg posts.  All are functionally similar, just different colors so you can color code posts if you so choose.
  • These are a bit pricey at 49 cents each.
  • The other potential issue is that the material type isn’t listed.  No word on whether they are silicone or Buna-N and… they aren’t listed as food grade.  More about this topic: Food Safe Replacement Keg O-Rings

Keg Fitting O-Rings at William’s Brewing | BULK O-rings -including custom colors at Valuebrew

OR… SAVE on FOOD Grade Silicone…

custom color keg orings

If you’ve read Homebrew Finds for long you’ve no doubt seen Valuebrew’s Blue and Green Custom Color O-Rings in food grade silicone. These are featured in our very popular keg rebuild step by step.

Valuebrew has introduced Gray and Black o-rings. As the picture indicates these are designed to match standard gray and black keg QDs.  These have become standard colors on ball lock, pin lock (usually the bottom portion of the QD) and even recently released Kegland QDs (center portion).

The gray and black are also made from food grade silicone and also available in bulk quantities.

Valuebrew has generally struggled to keep things in stock, however, I have no specification indication that availability will be an issue on these.

Custom Color O-rings at Valuebrew!

Limited Time Deal:

Valuebrew is discounting custom color coded o-rings by an additional 15% when you use coupon colorcode when you spend a total $25 or more excluding shipping charges.  This stacks on top of existing discounts.

Keg Post O-Rings - Food Safe Silicone - in BLUE

Worth a hard lookValuebrew has a lineup of food safe silicone orings that are available in bulk at a much lower price.  Chose from standard orange, custom blue, custom green and pin lock specific o-rings.
