I’ve used a Thermapen since 2013. I had used a variety of other thermometers up until that point for cooking, homebrewing, grilling and bbq-ing. I had seen the Thermapen around, I believe first on Alton Brown’s Good Eats and finally decided to take the plunge. My first Thermapen was a Super Fast Splash Proof Thermapen. That would technically be a Thermapen MK3. It’s actually still made today, sold as the Thermapen Classic. The Thermapen was a stark contrast to some of the thermometers I’d been using. Very well built and super fast. I’ve gotten each new model since then, more out of desire than necessity.
