I would say that 1,800 Watt is a higher capacity than many of the homebrew controllers out there.
Click to enlarge. This has two temperature probes and two “work” outlets. As outlined in this chart and confirmed to me by the manufacturer, this allows you to control TWO devices at the same time. That means controlling two fermentation chambers or a fermentation chamber and a kegerator with one single controller. If you’re controller a single chamber, this can function as a dual stage controller. If you’re controlling two devices at the same time, each would be single stage.
