March 815 Stainless Steel Beer Pump

March’s 815 Brewing Pump with Stainless Head via Adventures in Homebrewing

From AIH: “March Pump’s 815-SS Beer Pump.  A seal-less centrifugal magnetic drive pump ideal for home brewing. This pump is capable of generating a maximum flow of 7 gallons per minute at 4.5 feet, and its maximum head is 18.6 Feet (or around 8PSI). The standard wet end (the materials that come into contact with the solution) is composed of stainless steel, teflon, silicone and ryton/teflon/glass. The inlet connection is 1/2 inch male pipe thread, and the outlet is 1/2 inch male pipe thread.”

I use my homebrew pump for vorlaufing/recirculating, transferring from my mash tun to brew kettle, chilling with a recirculating wort chiller and transferring to my fermenter.  You could also use a brewing pump to recirculate ice water for your wort chiller.  Pumps are a necessity if you want to use a plate chiller.  You really need one to properly clean and sanitize your plate chiller.
