Pro Flow Cam and Groove Quick Disconnects

Pro Flow Cam Lock Fittings

I’ve used Pro Flow Dynamics Quick Disconnects on my kettles, mash tun, pumps and tubing for a long time.  They have worked great for me.  I put male connectors kettles, mash tuns and pumps and use female connectors for tubing.  These are made from Stainless Steel and are available in lots of configurations.  I also take the rings and pins off of these.

These are classified by Type.  That may mean something in “commercial cam lock fitting circles”, but I was initially confused by this.  Types are akin to model numbers.  For example, Type A is Female NPT to Male Cam and Groove.

The “arms” are just to flip from the locked position to the unlocked position and visa versa, the arms on the female side do not attach to the male side, the cotter pins are to lock the arms in place if desired, but i have never needed to use them as the connection itself is very tight. I use the type f male on my kettles and mash tuns, which is a 1/2 NPT thread which screws into most kettles and 1/2″ valves, and i use the type C on my tubing, which is 1/2″ ID

These are challenging to visualize. Do the arms on the female cam and groove swing down and lock onto the male cam and groove? What do the cotter keys lock onto… or do you use them? These are 1/2″ threads, but what size tube do they use?

Good questions. They use 1/2″ ID Tubing. I don’t use the cotter keys or the rings. To engage the disconnect the female cam arms are extended. If the arms aren’t extended you cannot pair the two sides. When the sides are paired, the arms pushed back down to the side of the fitting. That action locks the two sides into place.
