Ends Today: Buy a Mash & Boil System from William’s Brewing – get a FREE set of Drinking Jars + Mash and Boil Hands on Review

From William’s Brewing – Mash and Boil.

About… “Do you want to get into mashing but want something simple? The patent pending Brewer’s Edge® Mash & Boil makes it easy. No need for an outdoor burner, complicated brewing stand, or a 220 volt special circuit – it plugs into any 110 volt GFI household outlet. The Mash and Boil’s exclusive double wall stainless construction conserves heat to achieve a rolling boil with only 110 volts and 1600 watts, and its precise thermostat and internal sparging basket lets you mash and boil in the same vessel.

A typical brew day with the Mash & Boil begins with formulating your 5 gallon all grain recipe (up to 16 pounds of crushed grain can be mashed), and then heating your strike water to 162° F, the preset heat temperature. After 40 minutes or so, your strike water is 162° F, and you mix your crushed grain into the sparging basket already inside the Mash and Boil. The mash will cool to 152° or so, and then you set your thermostat to 150°, cover, and let mash for 1 hour. During this mash time you will need to separately heat 3 gallons of sparge water to 175° in a separate pot you provide. A thermometer hole is provided in the lid, in case you want to monitor the temperature of the top of the mash with any long probe analog or digital thermometer.

After one hour, lift the sparging bucket and lock on its included legs, and let the malt sugar drip into your Mash & Boil, which has now became a boiling pot. Turn the thermostat up to 218° F. and give it about 40 minutes to heat to a boil. During this time, ladle one gallon of hot sparge water at a time into the top of the sparging basket until you get to 5½ gallons. Now remove the grain basket, and when the boil begins, add your hops as per your recipe. Boil for 1 hour, and then cool with a suitable wort chiller (not included, our item E81 works well as does any immersion chiller that is up to 11″ in diameter). Or use the stainless valve with ½” hose barb to run the wort through your external chiller.

The Mash & Boil features an adjustable thermostat (switchable from Fahrenheit to Centigrade) with an adjustable run time preset at 3½ hours for safety. It also features a delayed start timer, so you can program the Mash and Boil to turn on up to 24 hours after setting. For example, load it with strike water, and have it set to be hot when you come home from work to save time. Intended for 5 gallon batches, maximum capacity is 7½ gallons. 28” tall closed, 40” tall with basket, 14” wide. A 5′ power cord is included.”

Buy a Grainfather w/Connect Controller – Get a Free Distilling Lid AND Free Drinkware

The Grainfather with Connect Controller – via William’s Brewing

More Info

The Grainfather is a 110 volt compact self contained RIMS mashing, boiling, and cooling system for mashing 5 gallon batches of beer. What is unique is that no special circuit, plug, or wiring is needed – this runs on any 110 volt 20 amp rated plug with a GFCI.  It features a 6 watt recirculating pump, for the mashing stage, and a separate counter flow wort chiller that you insert into the Grainfather when it is time to cool the 5 gallon batch after the electric powered boil. The boil is handled by a 1600 watt heating element.

For the initial mashing stage, you load the Grainfather with crushed grist (up to 18 pounds) per your recipe, set the thermostat to your desired mash temperature, add water, and let it go. Because it is a RIMS system, you can easily do multiple temperature rest mashing if desired – just adjust the temperature upwards with the thermostat whenever you want to go to another temperature rest. In addition the manual thermostat control, the Grainfather Connect Bluetooth control is also included.

After the mash cycle is done, you lift the grain basket partially so you can manually sparge by pouring water over the grain basket into the Grainfather below. You need to heat your own mash water, either by heating 5 gallons or so to boiling with the Grainfather before mashing and storing it in a stainless boiling pot, or heating when it is time to sparge with a separate brew pot on a stove. What we did was heat our sparge water in the Grainfather by getting it to boil in the Grainfather, then transferrring to a stainless boiling pot, and putting a lid on the pot. We then heated the pot briefly on a stove to raise it from 160° F. to the 168° F. needed for sparging,

After manual sparging, the grain basket is removed and you set the 1600 watt electric element to boil. It takes about 60-80 minutes to come to boil depending on ambient temperature. Hops are added manually during the boil per your recipe plan.

When the boil is over, you insert the included counter flow wort chiller to chill the wort which requires an external supply of cold water to run.  Our tests found this counter flow chiller extremely efficient, we chilled a 5 gallon batch of Double IPA to pitching temperature (about 78° F.) in 25 minutes, and only used 20 gallons of 70° F. water. It was so efficient that we just ran the end of the wort pipe from the counterflow directly into our fermenter.

After brewing, you run about 3 gallons of water (ideally saved from the chill) through the GrainFather again with a bit of PBW or other cleaner to clean the pump, lines, and counter flow chiller.

The Grainfather comes with a 1 year warranty.  We also offer a 60 day money back guarantee on everything we sell, even if you have used it (although this does not cover return shipping). It is 27″ tall with the recirculation tube attached, the cylinder body is 12″ in diameter, and 15″ in overall diameter when you consider the pump and thermostat.

A Grainfather app which allows you to upload recipes, and times your brew, is available free for Android and iOS. For iOS, go to iTunes and search for Grainfather, for Android, go to Google Play (the Android App has just been updated!). The included Connect Controller includes Bluetooth connectivity.

Note from HBF: I have a Grainfather (without connect controller) and I love it.  It’s my go-to brewing system.  I’ve have had or currently have multiple full scale and small scale systems and find myself coming back to the Grainfather again and again.

For a short time, William’s Brewing including a free distilling lid with purchase of a Grainfather with Connect Controller.  No coupon or promo code is necessary. Check product page for current availability.

More About Keg King Kegators

from William’s Brewing… “Keg King Series 4 Kegerators are the only kegerators designed specifically for the home brewer. They feature Intertap forward seal faucets, a tower cooling fan with a front panel on and off switch, an interior glass holder to keep chilled glasses handy, and a wide range thermostat adjustable from 26° to 82° F.

Intertap forward seal faucets come standard, mounted on a brushed 304 stainless tower. Besides being of extremely high quality, these are the only beer faucets that can be easily converted to a growler filler or stout faucet by just unscrewing the spout.

Cold does not rise. You will find that a beer tower elevated above a refrigerator will always remain warmer than the refrigerator, resulting in initial pours from the kegerator that are warm and foamy, followed by colder pours once you have dispensed a beer or two. At home this is a real problem, unless you pour beers in quick succession. The Keg King Series 4 is the only kegerator to include a tower cooling fan as standard equipment, and also feature a fan on/off switch on the front digital control panel. This way, to save energy and minimize fan noise, you can leave the tower cooling fan off except at times when you are dispensing beer.

When it is time to pour a glass, the Series 4 includes a handy glass holder inside to keep your beer glasses chilled. Just open the door and grab an ice cold glass and dispense. The glass holder holds both Belgian type stemmed glasses, and can also hold pint glasses. The glass holder can be removed, as it only allows you to have two 5 gallon and one 3 gallon or shorter keg inside at once.

The beauty of the Mark 4 is the extended range thermostat included. Unlike kegerators with standard 30° to 50° temperature ranges, the Mark 4 can be adjusted easily with the front panel digital display from 25° to 82° F (ambient temperature permitting), which means you can also use your kegerator as a fermentation chamber for ales in summer, a small refrigerator for food items, or even a wine cellar. The Mark 4 is easily convertible to a small refrigerator, and features an insulated plug to cover the tower hole, and a screw plug to seal the back gas line hole. In addition, a removable refrigerator shelf is included, and the drip tray and railing can both be removed for a smooth top. The door hinge is reversible.

1, 2 and 3 faucet models are available.  Check WB for up to the minute price and availability.

More About Mark's Keg and Carboy Washer

from William’s Brewing:

The Mark’s Keg & Carboy Washer II is a great way to continuously rinse carboys, kegs, and pails with sanitizing solution. It features a submersible pump that runs as long as you keep it plugged in. Fill the base (it holds a gallon) with a dilute cleansing solution such as Brewer’s Edge Cleanser or Five Star Saniclean™, put a carboy, keg, or Siphonless Fermenter on top of the unit, and turn on for 10 to 20 minutes to thoroughly wash the carboy, keg, or pail. You can put airlocks. valves, and more into the front tub on the unit, and they will be cleaned as well.

Includes adapters for cleaning tubing and complete instructions. 15” wide, 15” deep, 16” tall. We recommend the use of Brewer’s Edge Cleanser or Saniclean™ in this unit. Star San will not work due to excessive foaming. For safety, always plug into a GFI protected plug.

Brewer’s Edge Flare Mount Mini Regulator – serve homebrew on the go & more – Customer Returned Units – $54.99, Save $20

0-30 PSI BALL LOCK KEG MINI REGULATOR

0 to 30 PSI Brewer’s Edge Mini Regulator from William’s Brewing w/Stainless Steel Ball Lock QD. Uses 74 gram CO2 cartridges.  Those are enough to dispense a 5 gallon keg of carbonated beer.  Features an integrated check valve to keep beer from flowing backwards into the regulator.

Portable Serving: As an on-the-go regulator.

Backup – I’m out of CO2 and I want to pour a beer! Use as a backup if your main CO2 tank runs out.  Swap out the CO2 line for this regulator and you’ve got a temporary solution to keep you up and going until you can get more CO2.

Serve Beers at Alternate Carbonation Levels: This regulator goes up to 30 PSI.  That’s plenty to serve high carbonation beers like Hefeweizens and Belgians.  If you don’t have a dual or triple pressure setup, you could use this regulator to serve beers at higher pressures.  I would not suggest force carbonation with this unit.  The 74g cartridges would be pricey. You could carbonate using your existing regulator or just as easily naturally carbonate with priming sugar.  After the beer is completely carbonated, use this to serve at the higher pressure.

As of this posting, this is selling for $74.99.  A limited number of customer return units are available for $54.99.  That’s a savings of $20.  These are tested and said to be in excellent condition.  Check William’s Brewing for current availability.
