Ever wonder what other universal poppet o-rings are made of? Us too, after all this is one of the most high contact o-rings in you draft beer setup. We took matters into our own hands and worked with our suppliers to source a 304 Stainless Steel + Food Grade Silicone option. Stainless steel construction on all the metal parts and premium quality food grade silicone for the o-ring.

Our pledge to you… Let’s face it, the stainless pieces in most universal replacement poppets should last a long, long time. How about the o-rings? Not so much… lost, broken, cracked, off smell. This is where our pledge comes in… we’ll always carry replacement o-rings for these universal poppets. No need to guess what size replacements to buy or completely replace your universal poppets because you don’t have a reliable source for replacements.

I use universal style poppets exclusively when rebuilding kegs. Finding the right OEM specific replacement poppets can be a chore. Beyond finding the right part number, these can be prohibitively expensive. Paying $10 to $14, or more, for an OEM poppet isn’t fun. In fact, if you really had to pay that, it may not even make sense to keep the keg.

I’ve long advocated to tossing OEM o-rings immediately. You don’t know what they’re made of, and you can’t get replacements. Replacing them immediately with a known quality o-ring and known part number before trimming to fit means you’ll be using the right materials and have a source for replacements. Well… finally there’s an option that comes with quality o-rings made from the right materials out of the box! Beyond that, Valuebrew has pledged to always carry replacement o-rings, so you’ll always have a source when the time comes for replacements. If you’ve read Homebrew Finds for long you’ve no doubt seen Valuebrew’s Blue and Green Custom Color O-Rings in food grade silicone. These are featured in our very popular keg rebuild step by step.

Valuebrew has introduced Gray and Black o-rings. As the picture indicates these are designed to match standard gray and black keg QDs. These have become standard colors on ball lock, pin lock (usually the bottom portion of the QD) and even recently released Kegland QDs (center portion).

Saving Time by Cleaning Multiple Lines

Being able to clean multiple lines at the same time is a big time saver. In years past this would have involved stringing together multiple fittings or partially disassembling your setup.

For ball lock keg users – Ball Lock vs Pin Lock – there is an easy solution available that allows you to clean multiple lines at the same time with minimal effort.

Valuebrew Stainless Steel Ball Lock Jumpers – Hands on Review

This allows you to connect multiple ball lock kegerator runs by simply snapping them into the jumper. There are a few similar models available. Valuebrew’s features stainless steel construction, food grade o-rings and… it works with both gas and liquid QDs.

Here’s the jumper in action. I’ve tried this with both my Recirculating Draft Line Cleaning Pump and Simple Ball Lock Draft Line Flushing Setup

This makes connecting two lines very simple. Connect the two ball lock lines and push cleaning solution through one of your faucets.

How about 3 or more lines? The QD side is easy, you’ll need 1 jumper for 2 lines, 2 jumpers for 3 lines and so on. For the faucet side, you need to cut a small piece of tubing to jump between faucets as needed. Keep in mind that each line you add increases resistance. Your pump may do great with two or three lines, but as you add lines, it will have to work harder.

Flushing Lines with CO2: This jumper allows you to connect liquid AND gas lines. That means you can flush lines with CO2 to push out any remaining cleaner or sanitizer and purge O2. Cleaned > Rinsed > Sanitized, Dried and Purged lines! Make sure to use a low pressure that’s compatible with all components in your system if you do this.

How About Pin Lock and Sanke Setups?

This a male beer thread jumper. You would unthread tail pieces and use these jumpers to connect lines together. This is a bit more work that the ball lock jumper for ball lock setups and it wouldn’t include all of your faucets, but it’s a good choice of you use pin lock or sanke connections.

Hands on Review Stainless Steel Ball Lock Jumpers from Valuebrew

This ball lock jumper features stainless steel construction and food grade silicone post o-rings. It allows you to connect two keg lines together via ball lock keg QDs. This is handy for at least a few uses, the most popular one probably being cleaning multiple kegerator lines at the same time.

Valuebrew’s jumper is unique because of the custom color, food grade o-rings and because … it works with both liquid and ball lock jumpers.

In the package. As of this posting, this comes in singles with the option to add a second on for a reduced cost. Check the product page to see if that’s still available.A look at the jumper. It has a nice heft to it and feels generally well builtA look down the jumper. You’ll notice a stainless steel bar. This jumper doesn’t have traditional poppets. Instead these bars take their place enabling connected ball lock QDs to open when connected. This is actually a really good feature because it means the jumper is open to the air when unused and can be clean, dried and sanitized.

Drain Keg Lines

The other thing this design allows you to do is connect just one QD to open up a line to drain. Let’s say you wanted to clear the liquid from a kegerator line. Attach this to let air in, elevate the QD/jumper and open the faucet. No need to remove or disassemble the QD.

Flush Keg Lines and Transfer Tubing with CO2

Place this on a gas QD and attach to another gas QD (gas QD to gas QD) to flush gas lines. Attach to a liquid QD (gas QD to liquid QD) to flush serving lines

Flush Buckets, Compatible Fermenters and Kegs with CO2

Place this on a gas QD to open it up to assist with flushing compatible containers with CO2
