55 lb Grain Scale with Removable Face + Hands on Review

UltraShip 55 lb. Digital Postal Shipping & Kitchen Scale

I use the Ultraship Ultra-55 for weighing grain.  I’ve owned and used this scale since April of 2009.  It makes for a great grain scale.  Read my Hands On Review

Of course, it has a tare feature.  In my book, that’s a requirement of any scale used for brewing.  Tare lets you zero out the weight of the container you’re using.  You put the container on, hit tare, the scale zeros out.  Now you’re just weighing the thing that you’re interested in.

It has a 55 lb capacity and also displays in lbs and ounces.  Auto off feature and it has a lifetime warranty.  An optional AC adapter is available.

The feature that really sold me on it is… the removable face.  The face of this removes so that you can weigh large items (like buckets of grain) and still easily read the display.

That’s awesome! I just ordered one. I’ve been getting annoyed weighing out grain 2 pounds at a time for high gravity 10-gallon batches. Thanks for the heads-up!

When measuring in pounds/ounces, what interval does it measure in. For example, is it possible to weigh out 8 Pounds and 2.25 ounces at once? or will it jump from 8 pounds 2 ounce to 8 pounds 3 ounces?
