More About Spiegelau IPA Glasses

“In collaboration with two of the leading IPA brewers in the United States, Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head and Ken Grossman of Sierra Nevada, Spiegelau has created the new standard for IPA beer glassware. Achieved through a series of design and tasting workshops in which hundreds of possible designs were considered, the brewers ultimately and unanimously chose, by secret vote, one glass – ‘number 6’ – from a final lineup of eight custom-made prototypes. Designed to showcase the complex and alluring aromatic profiles of American “hop-forward” IPA beers, preserve a frothy head, enhance taste and mouthfeel, and present a comfortably wide opening for the drinker to savor each beer, Spiegelau’s latest design is the go-to vessel for enjoying IPA. Dogfish Head and Sierra Nevada champion US hop farming. The breweries and donating their portion of the proceeds from this collaboration to benefit advances in hop research.”

I have the Sierra Nevada one. It is nice, but very light, I actually prefer my sam adams one since if feels less delicate

Great glass! I’ve had one for a few weeks now and cannot wait to get some more. Definitely retains a good head, keeps the beer nice and cool, and accentuates aroma. I agree it is not the most visually appealing glass, but well worth forgoing looks on this one. Try it and smell for yourself.

Love my glass for IPAs, really does bring out more hop flavor and aroma in a hoppy beer. The only drawback is how quickly it warms up your beer. Just make sure not to hold it in between sips or it will warm faster than you expect. Overall a great glass!

I have not used one of these, but I am sure they really do help with everything they claim to do. I just hate the way they look – just like the Sam Adams tasting glasses. I won’t be buying any.

I have two from Sierra Nevada and they are great. They keep a nice head and do a great job with the hop aroma

I’ve had one for about a month now. It’s pretty great with a really hoppy IPA, it definitely helps keep more hops on the nose and also keeps the bubbles rising from the bottom of the glass. I’ve also spilled it a couple of times due to it’s shape. Still a great glass, world class craftsmanship! Would recommend.
