I use the 3 gallon version of this pot when I make small 2 gallon test batches. Word of warning, it actually only holds about 2.5 gallons though it was listed as a 3 gallon pot. I find it works well for that purpose though, not the highest quality piece of equipment in the world, but suitable doing smaller batches.

ReplyDelete$10 shipping.. $22 is still a great price. I was looking in to doing 3 gallon biab stovetop batches. Does anyone know if the bottom is uniform and will work on an electric stove?

ReplyDeleteI have split boiled 5 gallon batches on the electric stovetop for the past 8 years or so. One of my pots looks just like this. I can't speak for this pot specifically, but my pot is around 16 qts, instead of 20 qts claimed. If I lauter until it is 2" down from the top, it is about 13-14 qts.
The bottom is thin, but the only ill effect I have noted is an element-patterned protein deposit after boiling. No visible burn marks.
