Thanks to HBF Reader Mike for this tip!
Mike says he uses a similar pump for cold water circulation (presumably for chiller wort) and for cleaning better bottles and kegs.I also use a very similar pump for cleaning carboys and kegs.

Pardon the dumb question but can you control the flow rate on a pump like this? Would I need a ball valve downstream to accomplish this, or is the motor variable speed?
ReplyDeleteI'm sure there is no flow control built in. A ball valve would work to restrict flow, however, I'm not sure if this would be good for the pump. What were you wanting to use it for that you don't want the full power of the pump?
DeleteI was looking for a pump powerful enough to clean kegs and carboys, but with the capability to reduce flow significantly enough to run thru draft lines. And also have the capability to flow Star San without a ton of foaming.
DeleteThat makes sense. I have a pump similar to this and then a much lower flow pump I use for cleaning draft lines. A link to that build is in this post.
