Heat Mat for Fermentation Temps

For many of us, cooler temperatures are on the way.  You may need a boost to keep fermentation and/or serving temperatures up.

I use a reptile heating mat in my fermentation deep freeze when I need to warm the space up a bit.  Think of these as heating pads that are designed to operate constantly.

This Zoo Med model just had a price drop.  It has recently sold for around $22.  The current price of $17.47 constitutes a 55% discount and is a near record low.

According to Zoo Med's website this medium mat uses 16 Watts.  The mat I'm using is 9 Watts and it has no trouble raising my fermentation deep freeze by several degrees.

Zoo Med ReptiTherm® Under Tank Heater, Medium - $17.47 + Free Shipping with $25 order

If you want more heating power, a  large mat is available.  According to Zoo Med's website that mat uses 24  Watts.

If you need a temperature controller to run the whole deal, consider this Top Find:

This is a dual stage temperature controller.  You can control both a cooling and heating source with this.  At around $60 shipped, this is better deal than many of the single stage controllers on the market.  More Info
