I track a few favorite items on Amazon and elsewhere. I noticed the price changed again on the Ultraship 55 lb shipping scale. It's back down to $23.99. This is a great scale that I personally own and use. The price on this is a roller coaster, but you can generally get it for around $25.

In the process of keeping up on the Ultraship, I noticed the Weighmax Floor Scale. This has a remote display face, a 330 lb capacity and includes an AC adapter. This looks like it would be super convenient to just keep set up for weighing grain. At $45 this is a great scale.

I periodically check the status of the 6 gallon carboy available at Amazon.com.

Good news and bad news.

Bad news - it's now $30 (instead of $28.07). Still a great deal.

Good news - It's now showing as available for shipment. This was showing delivery in 5 to 6 weeks. That timeframe was never accurate. It was shipping anywhere from 2 days to a week. I think this was a little bit of trickery on Amazon's part to save on prime shipping costs. It's in stock now, so it arrives in 2 days with a prime membership and it arrives reasonably quickly without prime.

Taylor Commercial, Waterproof Thermometer. I use this and like it. This has regularly gotten soaked, sometimes submersed and it has kept on ticking.

I've blogged about Cask Widge floats on a couple of occasions.

These floats are very handy for use in Cornelius style kegs, both for post fermentation transfer and for serving.

I have use these by replacing the standard liquid out dip tube with an additional gas dip tube. The tubing fits over the gas dip tube perfectly. Unsurprisingly, the float, floats :) enabling you to draw liquid from the top instead of the bottom.

Advantages for Fermentation (in a 5 or 10 gallon Cornelius keg)

No dip tube length guesswork
No clogging when using lots of dry hops or when there is a lot of trub in the fermenter
Transfer all of the beer in your fermenter
Sediment free transfers!

Advantages for Serving

Particle free first pint
Beer at the top clears first
Beer at the top carbonates first
Beer at the top is ready first
No clogging from excessive yeast or drop hops.
The tubing and float seem to offer more resistance than the standard dip tube. This reduces serving line length and allows serving higher carbonation beers with less foam.
The screen means a particle free last pint!

I've been using these floats for both purposes and they have been working great!
